Description

EDLEVELLASTYR records the level of education attended by the household member in the previous schoolcurr year. It aims to harmonize without losing the information within a 3-digit coding structure.

EDLEVELLASTYR can be paired with EDGRADELASTYR (highest grade within level) to make finer educational determinations.

Comparability — Index

Comparability

The education levels are true to the national education systems and can reflect a different number of years of schooling across countries. The major levels for lower secondary and vocational education are not consistently identified across surveys. In most such cases they are combined with secondary.

EDLEVELLASTYR is comparable in coding structure to EDLEVEL (highest education level attended) and EDLEVELCURR (education level attended last year).
