Description

CLOTHERINC indicates if the child performed or helped with any activity other than the tasks reported in CLGARDEN, CLFAMBUSINESS, and CLSELL, whether unpaid or in return for a reward or income. The time reference specifies that the child worked at least one hour in the last week.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across samples. Note that CLOTHERINC is available for Round 5 and Round 6 samples only. In prior rounds of the MICS surveys, the child's involvement in farming, selling goods, doing business, and other activities were captured in a single response, rather than separately for each activity. See CLFAMWORK and CLNONFAM.
