DISCSHOUT reports if the child was shouted, yelled, or screamed at as a form of discipline in the past month by an adult in the household.
Comparability
This variable is comparable across samples apart from significant changes in the universe across units of analysis.
The child discipline module changes units of analysis between MICS rounds. In the earlier rounds, one child (ages 2-14 in round 3 and ages 1-14 in rounds 4 and 5) was selected from the household roster and their information is found in the "Household Characteristics" unit of analysis.
In Round 6, all children ages 1-4 in the "Children 0-4" unit of analysis, are selected. Additionally, the children between ages 5-14 selected for the "Children 5-17" unit of analysis are also included in this variable.
