Description

CSECTION indicates if the respondent's most recent birth was delivered via caesarian section.

Comparability

The question was addressed with respect to the most recent birth within the last two years; except for Egypt 2013 and Sierra Leone 2017, for which the birth could be within five years.

A small number of surveys did not address the question to women who gave birth in a private home. This has little practical effect, as less than one percent of births in private homes were delivered by caesarian section across all samples.
