Description

HIVANCINFO indicates whether the respondent received any information about HIV/AIDS during their antenatal visits.

This variable is similar to the following three variables that reference specific types of information provided during antenatal visits: Information about babies getting HIV from mothers (HIVANCBABYGET), how to prevent HIV (HIVANCPREVENT), and how to get tested for HIV (HIVANCINFOTEST).

Comparability

Some samples restrict the universe to ever-married women.

In MICS Round 3, the survey question was part of the maternal and child health module. The question refers to getting information about Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS as a part of antenatal care.
