Description

HIVDELRESULT indicates whether the respondent received the results from their HIV test taken in the time between going for delivery and giving birth. The question was only asked of women who were assisted in delivery by a skilled professional or who gave birth in a health care facility.

Comparability

The specification of being assisted in delivery by a skilled professional changed across rounds. In MICS Rounds 4 and 5, women who were assisted in delivery by a doctor, nurse or midwife, or auxiliary midwife were included in this variable. Some samples include other skilled professionals.

In MICS Round 6, women who gave birth in a health facility were included in this variable.

In all rounds, this variable refers specifically to the time frame between the woman going for delivery of the baby and the baby's birth.

In MICS Rounds 4 and 5, only women who reported not getting an HIV/AIDS test during antenatal care (HIVANCTEST equals no) are found in this variable.

  • Algeria 2012: Women age 15-49 who heard of HIV/AIDS and received antenatal care for a live birth in the last 2 years that was delivered by a health professional and who reported not getting an HIV/AIDS test during antenatal care and was tested between going for delivery and birth
  • Algeria 2018: Women age 15-49 who heard of HIV/AIDS and whose live birth in the last 2 years was delivered at a health facility and was tested between going for delivery and birth
  • Argentina 2019: Women age 15-49 who heard of HIV/AIDS and whose live birth in the last 2 years was delivered at a health facility and was tested between going for delivery and birth
