Description

This variable reports if the respondent had thoughts that they would rather be dead or thought of hurting herself/himself during the past two weeks.
This variable is available for women and men who reported sometimes or often feeling a symptom related to depression.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across samples.
For each interview, a mental health suicidal risk emergency referral protocol was set in place to assist respondents who reported having attempted suicide or having suicidal thoughts. See the country specific questionnaires for full details.
