Description

PCEVER reports if the respondent ever used a computer. The variable is reported for both men and women samples.

Comparability

The variable is conceptually comparable across samples, but there are differences in the universe and question wording between samples and rounds.

Most round 4 and 5 samples asked the question only of women and men age 15 to 24; other samples, including all of round 6, addressed the question to all women and men age 15 to 49.

The question text was refined in round 6 to include use of a computer or tablet in any location. The earlier rounds asked only about use of a computer with no further specificity.
