Description

PNCBOTHSKILL reports whether a skilled health worker not recorded elsewhere (in PNCBDOC, PNCBNURSEM, or PNCBAUXMW) checked the baby's health after a woman's most recent delivery.

Comparability

Whether a response category is considered skilled is based on the specific country's interpretation that survey year, based on the groupings on the questionnaire. For some samples, more than one response category is incorporated into PNCBOTHSKILL.

The most recent birth must have occurred within the last two years, except for Sierra Leone 2017, where the birth could have occurred within the last five years.

In the Aregntina 2019 sample, PNCBOTHSKILL includes obstetrician/professional midwife and public sector health agent ( Agente Sanitario ). The two categories were separately recorded on the survey, but have been combined in IPUMS MICS data.
