Description

WANTCHWHEN reports how long a woman who has not undergone sterilization, and who wants to have a/another child, would like to wait before a future birth.

This variable uses composite coding to indicate desired waiting time, as well as the unit in which the time was reported (months or years). The first digit of the variable signifies unit (1= months, 2= years) and the next two digits report number of months or years. Therefore, numbers in the 100s mean desired waiting time was indicated in months, and numbers in the 200s mean desired waiting time was indicated in years. For example, 101 means "1 month" and 120 means “20 months”. Similarly, 201 means "1 year" and 220 means “20 years".
