Description

EDLEVELCURR records the level of education attended by the household member in the current schoolcurr year. It aims to harmonize without losing the information within a 3-digit coding structure.

EDLEVELCURR can be paired with EDGRADECURR (grade within level) to make finer educational determinations.

Comparability

The education levels are true to the national education systems and can reflect a different number of years of schooling across countries. The major levels for lower secondary and vocational education are not consistently identified across surveys. In most such cases they are combined with secondary.

EDLEVELCURR is comparable in coding structure to EDLEVEL (highest education level attended) and EDLEVELLASTYR (education level attended last year).

Note that the age universe changes between rounds.
