Description
GEO1_UY identifies the household's region of residence within Uruguay in the 2012 MICS survey.
In the 2012 Uruguay MICS survey, geographic area was aggregated into three "regions" corresponding to community population size and relation to the country's capital Montevideo. These regions included:
- Montevideo and metropolitan area
- Localities of more than 5000 inhabitants
- Rural areas and localities of less than 5000 inhabitants
The first three digits of GEO1_UY provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
