Description
CLWATERWOODHRS indicates the number of hours the child spent fetching water or collecting wood for the household in the last week.
Comparability
This variable is generally comparable across samples. There are differences in the age of children included for some samples. Some samples impose different top-codes as seen in the data at 81+ or 95+.
Note that CLWATERWOODHRS is only available for rounds 4 and 5 (in the "Household Members" and the "Household Characteristics" units of analysis, respectively). In Round 6, the number of hours the child spent on fetching water and collecting firewood were each separately captured. See CLWATERHOURS and CLWOODHOURS in the "Children 5-17" unit of analysis. Round 3 combined fetching water and collecting firewood with other household chores.
