Description
This variable indicates if the reason for the respondent's absence from work in the last week was because they were on maternity leave.
Comparability
This question was asked of individuals who:
are not currently in school,
who did not report unpaid work activities - such as apprenticeships or internships - in the last 4 weeks(UNPAIDMO),
who did not report any training activities in the last 4 weeks(TRAINMO),
who did not report working for pay in the last week (WORKPAID),
who did not report doing work for their own business in the last week (WORKBUS),
who did not report doing work for a family business in the last week (WORKFAMBUS),
who did not report unpaid work activities - such as apprenticeships or internships - in the last 4 weeks(UNPAIDMO),
who did not report any training activities in the last 4 weeks(TRAINMO),
who did not report working for pay in the last week (WORKPAID),
who did not report doing work for their own business in the last week (WORKBUS),
who did not report doing work for a family business in the last week (WORKFAMBUS),
And who had a paid job or business but were absent from it during the last week (WORKABS) and were not absent because of shift work (ABSSHIFT), vacation (ABSVACATION), or illness (ABSSICK).
This variable is available for women and men starting in MICS Round 7.
