Description

FLPRACTICEQ2 records whether the child correctly answered the second practice reading comprehension question. For most samples, the question states, "Who is older? [Name 1] or [Name 2]" where the names included in the story are specific to the country. The correct answer is "[Name 1] is older than [Name 2]."

Comparability

This second practice question was administered to all children age 7-9 and children age 10-14 who were not currently attending school. This universe includes only children who read the practice statement correctly (FLPRACTICECORRECT) and who answered the first practice question correctly (FLPRACTICEQ1), except as noted below.

Differences from the stated universe result from reading booklets provided by the interviewer not being available in the language that the child speaks at home or at school. For countries that provide reading booklets in multiple languages, this variable represents the child's first chosen language or the language the child most often speaks at school or at home.
