Description

CLFAMWORKHRS records the number of hours the child spent working for their family in the past week, performing activities such as selling goods or helping on the farm or business.

Comparability

Despite the age variation, this variable is comparable across samples. See related variable, CLNONFAMHRS, which records number of hours the child spent working for someone outside the household. Note that CLFAMWORKHRS and CLNONFAMHRS are available for rounds 2, 3, and 4. See
CLWORKHOURS in the "Household Characteristics" (Round 5) and the "Children 5-17" (Round 6) units of analysis, for total hours worked for income (no separation of family or non-family work).
