Description

EDGRADEATT reports highest grade attended within the level of education that is reported in EDLEVEL.

The level of education does not include early children education or preschool education.

Comparability — Index

Comparability

EDGRADEATT is only available beginning with the MIC6 round. Earlier rounds report the highest grade completed within level (EDGRADE). To make EDGRADATT comparable with those earlier rounds requires using the variable EDGRADECOMP, which indicates whether the person completed the highest grade that they attended.

Some samples report degrees as well as grades, and those are retained in codes above 20.

Some surveys appear to report total years of schooling rather than year within level (e.g., Bangladesh 2019). As well as documented below, cross-tabulating with EDLEVEL should identify those surveys.
