Description

This variable indicates if the respondent works in farming or rearing farm animals. See the comparability section for specifications about who is included in this variable.

Comparability

This question was asked of individuals who:

are not currently in school,
who did not report unpaid work activities - such as apprenticeships or internships - in the last 4 weeks (UNPAIDMO),
who did not report any training activities in the last 4 weeks (TRAINMO),
and who did not report working for pay in the last week.
(WORKPAID).

Respondents who report doing work for their own business in the last week (WORKBUS), who report doing work for a family business in the last week (WORKFAMBUS), or report having a job that they were absent from in the last week (WORKABS).

But not respondents who report they are waiting to start a new job (ABSNEWJOB), are doing work for an off-season job (WORKSEASON), or are still being paid for an off-season job (ABSINCOME).

This variable is available for women and men starting in MICS Round 7.

  • Kazakhstan 2024: Women age 15-24 who work for their own or family business or were absent from a job in the last week
