Codes and Frequencies
Description
GEO1_CM identifies the household's region or city of residence in the Cameroon in the 2006 and 2014 MICS surveys. Regions are the primary level of geography in Cameroon.
In all sample years, the city of Douala is identified separately from the rest of the Littoral region, and the city of Yaoundé is identified separately from the rest of the Central region.
The first three digits of GEO1_CM provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
A GIS map (in shapefile format) corresponding to GEO1_CM is available on the GIS Boundary files page. The full set of geography variables for all MICS samples and countries can be found at IPUMS MICS Geography.
