Description

GEO1_GM identifies the household's Local Government Area (LGA) of residence within The Gambia in the MICS surveys from 2005 to 2018. LGAs are the primary level of geography in The Gambia.

The first three digits of GEO1_GM provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.

Comparability

The LGAs have identical spatial footprints across samples; there are no comparability issues.
