Description

GEO1_HN identifies the household's department or municipality of residence within Honduras in the 2019 MICS survey. Departments are the primary administrative divisions in Honduras, and municipalities are the secondary administrative divisions in Honduras. GEO1_HN identifies all eighteen departments and two of the 298 municipalities.

The first three digits of GEO1_HN provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.

Comparability

In addition to all eighteen departments, two municipalities were identified separately in the 2019 Honduras MICS survey. Distrito Central, corresponding to the national capital of Tegucigalpa, was identified separately from Francisco Morazán department, and San Pedro Sula was identified separately from Cortés department.
