Description

GEO1_KM identifies the household's island of residence within Comoros in the 2022 MICS survey.
The first three digits of GEO1_KM provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
A GIS map (in shapefile format) corresponding to GEO1_KM is available on the GIS Boundary files page.

Comparability

GEO1_KM provides greater detail in the island of Ngazidja, allowing users to identify responses from the capital Moroni apart from the rest of the island. Boundary files distributed by IPUMS-MICS, however, only provide the individual islands as mappable units due to lack of detail.
