Description
GEO1_MD identifies the household's region of residence within Moldova in the 2012 MICS survey. Moldova is comprised of 32 raioanes (districts), three municipiu (city), one autonomous territory, and one territorial unit. All these administrative units (except the disputed region of Transnistria) in Moldova were aggregated into North, Central, South, and the Chisinau municipality for the 2012 MICS survey.
- North: Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Donduseni, Riscani, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Falesti, Balti, Singerei, Floresti (12)
- Central: Ungheni, Telenesti, Soldanesti, Rezina, Nisporeni, Calarasi, Orhei, Hincesti, Straseni, Laloveni, Criuleni, Anenii Noi (12)
- South: Leova, Cimislia, Causeni, Stefan-Voda, Basarabeasca, Comrat, Cantemir, Ciadir-Lunga, Taraclia, Cahul, Vulcanesti (11)
- Chisinau: Chisinau Municipality (1)
The first three digits of GEO1_MD provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
