Description

GEO2_GH2010 identifies the household's locality within the Accra Metropolitan District in the 2010 MICS survey. Localities are the fourth level administrative units of the country, after regions, districts, and sub-metros.

The first three digits of GEO2_ GH provide the country code; the second three digits provide the region code; the last three digits specify the MICS unit code within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code. Other geography variables for Ghana includes spatiotemporally harmonized GEO1_GH.

A GIS map (in shapefile format) corresponding to GEO2_GH2010 is available on the GIS Boundary files page. The full set of geography variables for all MICS samples and country can be found at IPUMS MICS Geography.
