Description

GEO1_BA identifies the household's entity or district of residence within Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2006 and 2011 MICS surveys. MICS also conducted a survey on a sample of Roma households in 2011. For all the surveys, Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into two entities and one district.

The first three digits of GEO1_BA provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.

A GIS map (in shapefile format) corresponding to GEO1_BA is available on the GIS Boundary files page. The full set of geography variables for all MICS samples and countries can be found at IPUMS MICS Geography.

Comparability

The geographic units in the 2006 and 2011 samples have identical spatial footprints; there are no comparability issues.
