Description
GEO1_CI identifies the household's region within Côte d'Ivoire in the 2006 and 2016 MICS surveys. The regions in Côte d'Ivoire are composed of 31 administrative regions and two autonomous districts. 14 districts composed of administrative regions are the primary level of geography in Côte d'Ivoire.
The MICS survey provides 11 units that are a combination of several districts or parts of districts plus the two autonomous districts of Ville d'Abidjan and Yamoussoukro. Below we list the 11 units in the MICS survey along with their districts and (in parenthesis) component regions within the districts.
- Centre: Lacs district (N'Zi, Bélier, Iffou, and Moronou regions), Yamoussoukro autonomous district
- Centre-Est: Part of Comoé district (Indénié-Djuablin region)
- Centre-Nord: Vallée du Bandama district (Gbèkè, Hambol regions)
- Centre-Ouest: Sassandra-Marahoué district (Haut-Sassandra, Marahoué, Gôh regions)
- Nord: Savanes district (Poro, Bagouè, Tchologo regions)
- Nord-Est: Zanzan district (Gontougo, Bounkani regions)
- Nord-Ouest: Denguélé district (Kabadougou, Folon regions) and Woroba district (Worodougou, Bafing, Béré regions)
- Ouest: Montagnes district (Tonkpi, Cavally, Guémon regions)
- Sud sans Ville d'Abidjan: Lagunes district (Agnéby-Tiassa, Grands-Ponts, La Mé regions), Gôh-Djiboua district (Lôh-Djiboua, Gôh regions), and part of Comoé district (Sud-Comoé region)
- Sud-Ouest: Bas-Sassandra district (San-Pedro, Gbôklé, Nawa regions)
- Ville d'Abidjan autonomous district
The first three digits of GEO1_CI provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
