Description

GEO1_ML identifies the household's region of residence within Mali in the 2009 and 2015 MICS surveys. Regions are the primary level of geography in Mali.

The first three digits of GEO1_ML provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.

Comparability

The region of Kidal was not included in the 2015 survey due to security concerns. All regions have identical spatial footprints in both surveys.
