Codes and Frequencies
Description
GEO1_ME identifies the household's statistical region of residence within Montenegro in the 2005 to 2018 MICS surveys. MICS also conducted a survey of Roma households in 2013 and 2018.
The statistical regions in Montenegro do not correspond to any level of administrative geography but are constituted of municipalities, which are the primary administrative divisions in Montenegro. Below, are the statistical regions and their corresponding municipalities:
- North: Andrijevica, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Gusinje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Petnjica, Plav, Plužine, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Šavnik, Žabljak
- Central: Cetinje, Danilovgrad, Nikšić, Podgorica, Tuzi
- South: Bar, Budva, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Ulcinj
The first three digits of GEO1_ME provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
A GIS map (in shapefile format) corresponding to GEO1_ME is available on the GIS Boundary files page. The full set of geography variables for all MICS samples and countries can be found at IPUMS MICS Geography.
