Description
GEO1_MK identifies the household's statistical region of residence within North Macedonia in the 2005-2018 MICS surveys. MICS also conducted a sample survey of Roma households in 2011 and 2018.
The statistical regions in North Macedonia do not correspond to any level of administrative geography. The regions are composed of municipalities, which are the primary administrative divisions in North Macedonia. The statistical regions and their corresponding municipalities are listed below:
- Vardar: Čaška, Demir Kapija, Gradsko, Kavadarci, Lozovo, Negotino, Rosoman, Sveti Nikole, Veles
- East: Berovo, Češinovo-Obleševo, Delčevo, Karbinci, Kočani, Makedonska Kamenica, Pehčevo, Probištip, Štip, Vinica, Zrnovci
- Southwest: Centar Župa, Debar, Debarca, Kičevo, Makedonski Brod, Ohrid, Plasnica, Struga, Vevčani
- Southeast: Bogdanci, Bosilovo, Dojran, Gevgelija, Konče, Novo Selo, Radoviš, Strumica, Valandovo, Vasilevo
- Pelagonia: Bitola, Demir Hisar, Dolneni, Krivogaštani, Kruševo, Mogila, Novaci, Prilep, Resen
- Polog: Bogonivje, Brvenica, Gostivar, Jegunovce, Mavrovo and Rostuša, Tearce, Tetovo, Vrapčište, Želino
- Northeast: Kratovo, Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo, Lipkovo, Rankovce, Staro Nagoričane
- Skopje: City of Skopje, Aračinovo, Čučer-Sandevo, Ilinden, Petrovec, Sopište, Studeničani, Zelenikovo
The first three digits of GEO1_MK provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code.
