Description

GEO1_TN2018 identifies the household's region of residence within Tunisia in the 2018 MICS survey. Regions in Tunisia are groups of governorates. Governorates are the primary level of geography in Tunisia.

The first three digits of GEO1_TN2018 provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code. Other geography variables for Tunisia include the spatiotemporally harmonized GEO1_TN that applies to all Tunisia samples, and the sample-specific GEO1_TN2011, that applies to the 2011 survey.

For 2018: 24 governorates were grouped into seven regions:

• District Tunis: Manouba, Tunis
• Nord Est: Bizerte, Nabeul, Zaghouan
• Nord Ouest: Béja, Jendouba, Kef, Siliana
• Centre Est: Mahdia, Monastir, Sfax, Sousse
• Center Ouest: Kasserine, Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid
• Sud Est: Gabes, Mednine, Tataouine
• Sud Ouest: Gafsa, Kebili, Tozeur
