Description

GEO1_ TH2012_2022 identifies the household's region of residence within Thailand in the 2012-2022 MICS surveys. Regions in Thailand are groups of provinces. Provinces are the primary level of geography in Thailand.

The first three digits of GEO1_ TH2012_2022 provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code. Other geography variables for Thailand include GEO1_TH and GEO2_TH2016_2019.

For 2012 to 2022: 77 provinces were grouped into five regions:

• Bangkok: Bangkok
• Central: Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Saraburi, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Sa Kaeo, Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan
• North: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun
