Description

GEO1ALT_NP identifies the household's province of residence within Nepal in the 2019 MICS survey. Provinces are the primary level of geography in Nepal.

The first three digits of GEO1ALT_NP provide the country code; the last three digits specify the geographic unit within the country. Leading zeros are used when the geographical unit within the country requires less than a three-digit code. Other geography variables for Nepal include the spatiotemporally harmonized GEO1_NP that applies to the 2010 and 2014 Nepal samples, the sample-specific GEO1_NP2010 that applies to the 2010 survey, and the sample-specific GEO1_NP2014 that applies to the 2014 survey.

Comparability

The provinces in the 2019 survey are incompatible with the regions in the earlier surveys.
