- IPUMS MICS has updated the version number (V1.3) and DOI (https://doi.org/10.18128/D082.V1.3).
- Afghanistan, Nepal, and Thailand use non-Gregorian calendars and the original UNICEF MICS data contains country-specific calendar dates. IPUMS MICS converted the original dates into the Gregorian calendar for the following date variables:
INTERVIEWDAY ,INTERVIEWMO ,INTERVIEWYR ,DOBWM ,DOBCH ,DOBMN ,BIRTHMOCH ,BIRTHYRCH ,BIRTHMOWM ,BIRTHYRWM ,BIRTHMO ,BIRTHYR ,DOMWM ,DOMMN ,FIRSTMARRMO ,FIRSTMARRYR ,WQINTERVIEWDAY ,WQINTERVIEWMO ,WQINTERVIEWYR ,WQTESTRESULTDAY ,WQTESTRESULTMO ,WQTESTRESULTYR ,FIRSTBIRTHDAY ,FIRSTBIRTHMO ,FIRSTBIRTHYR ,LASTBIRTHDAY ,LASTBIRTHMO ,LASTBIRTHYR ,DOBFB ,DOBLB ,DOBBH ,BHBIRTHDAY ,BHBIRTHMO , andBHBIRTHYR - The variables WEIGHTHH, WEIGHTWM, and WEIGHTCH, for Costa Rica 2018 and Panama 2013 are normalized weights as for other samples; previously the weights available for Costa Rica 2018 and Panama 2013 for these units were not normalized.
- IPUMS Global Health added new Global Health variables that share identical names and codes across IPUMS MICS, IPUMS DHS, and IPUMS PMA. There are 21 Household Characteristics variables and 19 Women variables that can be found in the "IPUMS Global Health" topic group in these units of analysis. We have also developed a user note with additional information.

- For MENSTLASTYR, respondents who reported last menstrual period was '30 days ago' or '30 weeks ago' moved to 1=Yes category, respondents who reported last menstrual period was 12 months ago or 1 year ago moved to 0=No category, and respondents who never menstruated moved to 9=NIU category.
- For MENSTLASTSTART, persons who responded 'never menstruated' to related menstruation variables moved from 998= Missing to 993= Never menstruated.
- For WEIGHTFS, the values for Costa Rica are normalized weights, as in other samples; previously the weights available for Costa Rica were not normalized.
- Variables in the foundational learning modules (such as FLBIGGER1) were modified for children who completed the foundational learning module but did not attempt the question but did not attempt the question.
- The variable EDCURR_FS has been removed from the 5-17 unit of analysis; the data on current school enrollment are instead integrated into SCHOOLCURR on the household member record.
